Roller ring installation and usage precautions

I. Roller Ring Installation and Use Precautions The installation of cemented carbide roller rings should pay attention to the following points: 1. The roller ring machine should strictly check the roller ring dimensions according to the process design requirements. To ensure that the roller rings of the same batch are suitable for the same batch, use roller rings of the same brand, and the matching roller ring materials, performance, and density should be consistent. Any differences will affect the dynamic balance and the use effect of the roller ring. 2. Roller ring installation, roller ring. The matching surfaces between the roller shaft and the roller cone sleeve and the sleeve should be kept clean, and the matching parts should be kept neat and reasonable. The assembly should not be too tight or too loose. If the assembly is too tight, the rolling temperature will increase. At this time, the supporting roller ring is in a state of large tensile stress. Once the rolling force fluctuates, it will cause radial cracking of the supporting roller ring, resulting in the cracking and scrapping of the supporting roller ring. If the combination is too loose, the roller ring and the roller shaft will slide relatively, generating frictional heat, causing thermal stress in the roller ring, and cracks. In severe cases, the roller ring and the roller shaft cone sleeve will be scrapped. Therefore, the roller ring installation pressure should be strictly controlled. 3. The roller ring is a brittle material. It is heavy and easily damaged. Therefore, during the installation, transportation, and handling of the roller ring, collisions are strictly prohibited. II. Reasonably Determine the Rolling Volume The roller ring single groove is rolled for a certain period of time. When the rolling groove produces a

  I. Roll Ring Installation and Usage Precautions: Points to note when installing cemented carbide roller rings:

  1. The roll ring machine should strictly check the roll ring dimensions according to the process design requirements. To ensure that the roll rings are from the same batch, it is more suitable to use roll rings of the same brand from the same batch. The material, performance, and density of the matching roll rings should be consistent; any differences will affect the dynamic balance and the use effect of the roll rings.

  2. Roll ring installation: The mating surfaces between the roll ring, roll shaft, and roll cone sleeve should be kept clean and tidy. The assembly should not be too tight or too loose. If the assembly is too tight, the rolling temperature will increase. At this time, the supporting roll ring is under high tensile stress, and any fluctuation in rolling force will cause radial cracking of the supporting roll ring, leading to its failure. If the assembly is too loose, the roll ring and roll shaft will slide against each other, generating frictional heat, causing thermal stress in the roll ring, and cracks. In severe cases, the roller ring and the cone sleeve of the roller shaft will be scrapped. Therefore, the roll ring installation pressure should be strictly controlled.

  3. The roll ring is a brittle material. It is heavy and easily damaged. Therefore, during the installation, transportation, and handling of the roll ring, collisions are strictly prohibited.

II. Reasonably Determine the Rolling Volume

When a roll ring single groove is rolled for a certain period of time, and when the rolling groove produces a certain amount of yield, micro-cracks gradually become larger. When the depth reaches 0.2mm~0.4mm, offline grinding should be carried out; otherwise, only later grinding is not enough. Reasonable arrangement and control of the rolling volume is of great significance.

III. Rolling Roll Ring Cooling and Water Quality Requirements.

  1. During production, the roll ring is subjected to the impact of alternating forces. With the expansion of grid thermal cracks, thermal fatigue cracks are easily generated. Severe cases can cause alloy spalling or even roll breakage. To prevent roll ring cracking, reduce thermal corrosion on the surface of the roll ring at high temperatures, slow down crack expansion, extend the service life of the groove, and ensure reasonable cooling of the roll ring.

  2. The cooling water pressure range is controlled at 0.4~0.6 MPa. The small flow rate for each pass should be 18 m³/h, and the water volume for the last two frames should reach 24 m³/h. The spray should be directly sprayed into the rolling groove at an angle of 15~30° to the roll ring radius and rotation direction.

  3. During rolling, the pH value of the cooling water has a significant impact on the corrosion of cemented carbide. Cobalt corrosion is aggravated, especially the service life of roller rings using pure cobalt as a binder is greatly reduced. In this case, nickel-based binder roll rings, i.e., YGR series roll rings, should be used. The composition of the solid-phase particles on the water roll ring, corrosion on the adhesive Roll Ring Corrosion due to high rolling speed and high rolling pressure. Roll ring rusting is aggravated, so the cooling water should be regularly settled and purified.

IV. Precautions for Roll Rings During Rolling.

  1. Ensure that the roll ring is in a normal cooling state. When rolling, if the cooling water pressure is too low or water blockage measures are suddenly taken, red steel should not be allowed to enter the finishing process; otherwise, the rolling mill will cause a batch of roll spraying accidents.

  2. Strictly control the rolling temperature. In case of finishing pile steel accidents, immediately turn off the water and maintain a certain cooling time. When handling post-rolling waste, the cutting machine should stay as far away from the roll ring as possible to prevent local heating of the roll ring.

  3. Debris, iron filings, and dust inside and around the finishing mill roll ring should be cleaned up in time to prevent the roll ring from being bitten into the groove during rotation, causing roll ring breakage accidents. Machine feeding temperature, prohibit low-temperature rolling of roll rings. When installing the finishing mill guide shield, be sure to maintain a consistent distance with the roll ring to prevent friction between the guide rail and the roller ring, thus affecting the normal use of the roller ring due to frictional heat.
