What is the failure analysis and countermeasures for rolling mill roll bearings?

Roll bearing rolling mills are developed based on the replacement of previously used journal bearings. Compared with journal bearing rolling mills, their stability has been greatly improved. At present, steel mills in China need to widely use bearings to replace journal bearings, but it has been found that roll bearings often fail during use, which will have a great impact on production. According to statistics, the main factors causing roll failure are: assembly influence, improper lubrication influence, improper protection and foreign object entry, and overload. The following will analyze the causes of roll bearing failures and introduce measures to reduce roll bearing failures. 1. Failures caused by improper assembly of roll bearings One end of the roll bearing consists of four rows of short cylindrical roller bearings and a single row of deep groove ball bearings. In the steel rolling process, the radial force is mainly the main rolling force and the radial force generated during the rolling process, as well as the axial force generated during the rolling process. The radial force is shared by two bearings, and the axial force is mainly borne by the single row of deep groove ball bearings. Through analysis, it is found that this bearing allocation method has high load-bearing capacity, smaller bearing size than other bearing methods, and more accurate shaft positioning. In particular, the four-row short cylindrical roller bearings have high centering performance and high manufacturing accuracy. After consulting the bearing manual, it was found that the bearing clearance is less than 0.25 mm, which can meet the requirements of multiple disassembly.

According to statistics, the main factors causing roll failure are: assembly influence, improper lubrication influence, improper protection and foreign object entry, and overload. The following will analyze the causes of roll bearing failures and introduce measures to reduce roll bearing failures.

  1. Failures caused by improper assembly of roll bearings

One end of the roll bearing is composed of four rows of short cylindrical roller bearings and a single row of deep groove ball bearings. In the steel rolling process, the radial force is mainly the main rolling force and the radial force generated during the rolling process, as well as the axial force generated during the rolling process. The radial force is shared by two bearings, and the axial force is mainly borne by the single-row deep groove ball bearing. Through analysis, it is found that this bearing distribution method has high load-carrying capacity, smaller bearing size than other bearing methods, and more accurate axial positioning. Especially the four-row short cylindrical roller bearings have high centering performance and high manufacturing accuracy.

After consulting the bearing manual, it was found that the bearing clearance is less than 0.25mm, which can meet the requirements of multiple disassembly. After disassembly, it was found that, Roll The bearing is fixed with a threaded half ring and a lock nut, and the outer ring of the bearing is compressed by the bearing end cover to ensure that the roll will not move axially. According to statistics, when the bearing end cover is not tightened and the bearing moves in the bearing seat, it will have a great impact on the product quality during the rolling process, and the requirements cannot be met during the rolling process. Conversely, when the bearing end cover is pressed too tightly, the axial clearance of the bearing is too small, and the bearing pre-tightening force is too large, causing the outer ring of the deep groove ball bearing to move axially to a certain extent, thereby eliminating a certain clearance of the bearing. When the pre-tightening force exceeds a certain range, in addition to the clearance of the bearing itself being eliminated, the rolling elements of the deep groove ball bearing will deviate from the raceway, causing accelerated wear of the bearing. When the bearing rotates at high speed, the bearing overheating will cause the bearing to expand and deform, easily causing the bearing to burn out, and excessive pre-tightening force will also cause the bearing to jam. Therefore, when assembling the bearing, it is necessary to control the pressing amount and leave a certain amount of heat. According to statistics, when the clearance of the assembled roll bearing measured by a dial indicator is between 0.15 and 0.25 mm, the bearing has a longer service life.

  2. The impact of improper lubrication of roll bearings

Good lubrication will greatly improve Roll the service life of the bearing. Lubrication is achieved by using lubricants. By using lubricants to improve the friction state of the friction pair, reduce friction resistance, and reduce wear. During the operation of the roll bearing, there is both fluid friction and sliding friction. The roll body of the bearing is made of very hard bearing steel. When moving under force, only a certain oil film needs to be maintained between the inner and outer rings of the bearing. However, in actual work, it has been found that many bearing damages are caused by the deterioration of the bearing lubrication performance. The factors leading to lubrication deterioration are as follows:

  (1) Improper lubrication method.

  (2) Improper layout of lubrication pipelines and oil passage blockage.

  (3) Improper selection of lubricating oil.

  (4) The amount of lubricating oil cannot meet the lubrication requirements. At present, the lubricating oil used in rolling mill bearings has a high oil absorption capacity, so a certain strength oil film is formed during operation. However, studies have found that grease lubrication has a better lubrication effect than oil lubrication.
